An April of Choices

After a tipsy tursy February and March, I was scrolling through my photo gallery to have a review of what we have been doing in April (and why it wheeeeezed through so quickly) and one word kept popping up in my mind… Choices.

April was full of making choices.

We make choices all the time and each choice guides how we use our time and energy. Some choices also reflect our values and priorities in life. What we choose to do or what not to do at this moment, will have an impact on our lives later on too.

A choice to stay active and healthy.

We have always try to be as active as possible and also encourage our kids to lead an active lifestyle. Staying active is also one way to remain healthy. Picked up playing pickleball in April and is now hooked on the game. After watching a couple of videos, my social feed is now filled with pickle-reels 😂 Let us see the value of leading an active lifestyle and get out of the sofa-Netflix-binge-watching to 活动活动!

A choice to spend time with family and friends.

We finally got back into some kind of routine of hosting friends for meals and prioritising time for family meals. It takes effort, energy and making time for people who you want to prioritise in life. We really do enjoy the company of friends to share life with and support one another through prayer. Hopefully we can continue to make deliberate choices to plan our time well to meet up as often as we can.

A choice to have couple time.

We made a choice to shift our date nights from Thursdays to Saturdays so that we will not be so tired after a work day, and we can have more quality time together. With the kids having their own time in church on Saturdays, we can plan our own breakfast time, exercise time, walk time, shopping time just for the 2 of us.

Do you still make time for your spouse?

Do you still plan your date nights?

Do you make a choice to set aside time just with your spouse?

The choice to die for us on the cross.

Jesus made the choice to die on the cross for all of us because He loves us. With His death, comes the redemption of our sins, and His resurrection which brought hope for all mankind. We experienced God’s faithfulness as we witness our cell member’s decision to be baptised. God reminded us again of His faithfulness when we witness a clear rainbow after our cell gathering. God is good, all the time!

And of course, as a Singaporean, we end off April with rallies and elections talk as we make an important choice on 3 May.

How do you make your choices?

Do your choices bring you closer to your goals or drift further away?

Do you make calculated deliberate choices?

Or you go by your gut feel?

May we all find wisdom to make choices that will bring us closer to our goals, make us better people and bring joy to people around us 🙏
