Flabbergasted February.
Started with CNY celebrations which was a wave of busy-ness and continued on with wave after wave of events, meetings and things to manage.
And it’s piling up. My to-do list has stretched to end of 2026 😢
By the end of the final week of Feb, I felt drained and heavy hearted with a looming emotional issue to attend to.
That’s when God reached out in the most amazing way.
The school hosted the Watoto children’s choir to hold a concert during a Friday assembly. They are children from Uganda and most of them have lost either one or both parents. They do not charge any performance fees and simply wanted to share their stories and inspire listeners with love and hope. As a goodwill gesture, I hosted a simple chicken rice lunch for them at our school canteen. After lunch, we were making our way to the hall to prepare for the concert. To my surprise, they requested for me to stand in front of the children and adult chaperones to thank me for lunch. This was followed by a song of blessing-
The Lord bless you and keep you
Make His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
The Lord turn His face toward you
And give you peace
I nearly cried.
I thanked them and told the kids I had a tough week and really needed this prayer and blessing from them. Then each of them took turns to give me a hug.
I very nearly cried.
The first song they sang at the concert is “10000 Armies” from the album Better Days-
I march into battle
No doubt in my mind
That my God is with me
And victory is mine
I’ll dance in the shadow
Of my enemy
Cause God is my champion
And He fights for me
Bigger the battle
Greater my faith
There is no giant
You cannot slay
Cause You’re stronger
Than 10000 armies
You’re stronger than 10000
Never would I have imagined that God will use a children’s choir from Uganda to speak to me about hope and faith in Him, at the exact moment that I needed it most.
It’s not about our wealth or abilities.
It’s not about our circumstances.
It’s about putting our hope in God,
And trust He will bring us Better Days.
Such is their faith in God.
What about me?
Go listen to their songs. They can be found online easily. Maybe you will be inspired through different ways too.
Trusting God and looking forward to #betterdays ahead 💪
