As 2021 draws to a close in a blink of an eye, we want to remain thankful to God for a year full of grace.

We are thankful for our big house move. From the day we had a chat with my housing agent friend till the sale and purchase, and then the big move. We are halfway there and we thank God for a smooth process with many funny moments along the way.

We are thankful for teen’s transition into secondary school life and settling into church. At the beginning of the year, we were praying over a supportive spiritual community that can engage him to grow in his walk with God. At one time, he was juggling his commitments to the activities of 2 different churches. Finally he settled comfortably in one by March and we look forward to tween joining this community of believers on 1 Jan.

We are thankful for tween’s PSLE journey. Not just for the results, but how we went through together as a family. We focus on the learning process and the growth, the support given and the love showered, and the results is a bonus.

We are thankful that mei is only P5 next year and we do not have to go through another consecutive PSLE year 😂

We are thankful for family, good health, stable jobs and close friends. These are things that we have so taken for granted before Covid. It’s only through such difficult uncertain times that you value what has always been beside you all this while. Covid has helped me to see things in a different light

  1. Who are in my table of 2/5/8 to eat with?

  2. In whose table of 2/5/8 am I involved in?

  3. Needing to attend birthday parties/ weddings / events of those people who truly matter.

  4. Not needing to attend said events out of courtesy.

  5. How to still connect with people despite restrictions.

Covid has been with us for almost 2 years and has become an easy excuse at times. To stop connecting with people, to stop exercising, to stop being satisfied and thankful, and start complaining, start comparing, start blaming…

As we start 2022, let us be positive and hopeful and give thanks in all circumstances. Think less of ‘because of Covid, I cannot …’

Instead, think more of ‘despite Covid, I can …’

Have a blessed new year from the Yeows!

“in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1Thessalonians 5:18
